A Partnership Built on Community
For Heck Construction, supporting Community Hive isn’t something new. It’s a partnership that has grown in many different ways over the years.
Heck Construction has partnered with us on projects throughout our building, most recently playing a key role in helping make our space feel more inviting and welcoming as we updated it alongside our Community Hive rebrand. Their support has helped us create a space that better reflects who we are and the community we serve.
They’ve also supported our BBQ Bash since the very beginning, and this year we’re especially excited to welcome them as our first-ever Beer & Steer Sponsor for the Third Annual BBQ Bash, our largest fundraiser of the year.
Through this sponsorship, guests will receive drink tickets as part of the event, and Heck Construction is helping make one of this year’s biggest raffle opportunities possible by sponsoring half of a steer for us to raffle off. It’s a fun addition to the BBQ Bash, but even more importantly, it gives us another way to raise critical funds to support the work Community Hive is doing throughout Ephrata and Cocalico.
This partnership is also a personal one.
Heck Construction President Todd Heck also serves as President of Community Hive’s Board of Directors and has been involved with the organization for about eight years. Todd’s passion for serving the community started long before his time with Community Hive.
“I was born and raised in the Cocalico Community and so were my kids. The nonprofit organizations and churches in our area have had a huge impact on our lives.”
He shared that growing up around fire companies, Lions Clubs, Rotary, athletic and veterans organizations, community parks and other local programs showed him firsthand how important these organizations are to a strong community
When Todd joined the Community Hive board, he began to see just how many local neighbors rely on the services we provide.
“I have stayed involved because I believe in the focused mission of Community Hive and I have seen the tremendous impact that Community Hive has on the community.”
That impact, and the way our community continues to rally around its neighbors, is something Todd says has stood out to him most over the years.
“When there is a need, whether it is a financial need, or a volunteer need, the community responds.”
He added that while Community Hive helps connect support and services to those who need them, it is the generosity of the Ephrata and Cocalico communities that makes the work possible.
“Community Hive is the conduit for the support services to get to those in need, but it is our community’s consistent generosity and love for others that makes it all possible.”
That same spirit is what partnerships like the one we share with Heck Construction are all about. As Todd put it:
“Everyone in the community is a part of the community and we all have responsibility to do our part to serve others.”
We’re incredibly grateful to Heck Construction for continuing to show up for Community Hive, from helping us create a more welcoming home for our neighbors to supporting the fundraiser that helps make so much of our work possible.
